GWA, a majority-owned affiliate of Wall Street Access LLC, pioneered a non-price portfolios in 1998. Based in London, the firm is a global institutional equity manager, offering both active and wealth-weighted index strategies. GWA's assets total US$5.0 bn (as of June 30th, 2013) for clients around the world, including some of the largest and most sophisticated pension plans and government funds.
GWA strategies aim to outperform market capitalization benchmarks by selecting and/or re-weighting the constituents of those indices based on each company's underlying economic wealth, including factors such as EVA (economic value added), book value, cash flow and dividends.
The firm believes that stock prices must follow wealth in the long-term. The firm's systematic, rules based strategies apply its proprietary wealth measurement analytics to companies worldwide. GWA's strategies are designed for institutional clients needing high capacity portfolios with the ability to outperform their market cap benchmarks.
Wealth Weighted Indices
In partnership with global index providers, GWA provides wealth weighted indices for the Developed World, Emerging Markets, EAFE and single countries (U.S., Japan, UK and Australia). These Wealth Index strategies use all stocks in the benchmark (and none that are outside that benchmark), reweighing them based on each company's underlying wealth as opposed to market price.
Active Wealth Portfolios
GWA introduced its range of Active Wealth Portfolios in 2010. These strategies select and re-weight approximately the top third most attractive securities in the relevant benchmark using the firms systematic wealth allocation analysis. The U.S. Active Wealth Equity was the first to launch, in 2012. Other Active Wealth Equity strategies available include Developed World, Emerging Markets and selected regional or single country mandates.
